New SFW - Dodge City Cowboys CD Review from DAREDEVIL RECORDS !
I only know a compilation song from SO FUCKING WHAT and that song was a blast. That song was a great mix of old Misfits sing-a-longs and Metal music. Sounds great and I was really surprised after the first tunes of DODGE CITY COWBOYS. The band is around since 2002 and they released so far some CDs, EPs and Singles. The music on DCC is pure Country Music with a Rock touch. First I thought only the opener sounds like that, but the following HELLISH ROCK MACHINE is a hit in the same direction as the opener! It sounds fresh and maybe like some BOSS HOSS stuff. Songs like TV SLUT, BIG BOB are great songs. But the highlights are the Country SO FUCKING WHAT versions from MONSTER MAGNETS track SPACELORD, which sounds great and fits perfect to the other Country songs and the cover version from MOTORHEAD’S OVERKILL. Yeah – the 2 songs fit perfect in a Western/Country Rock jacket! And for all underground freaks, THE ROOF from CHUCK NORRIS EXPERIMENT is a great cover version and fits perfect to that band! An interesting record, 3 great cover versions and 10 cool SFW songs which are the perfect soundtrack for the summer! Jochen

Review So Fucking What - Dodge City Cowboys (2007) - 7.0 Punkte
"Oha, da
kommt aber eine interessante Scheibe auf mich zu. Das habe ich mir gedacht als
das neue Album von So Fucking What aus dem Umschlag in meine Hände plumpste.
Ein wenig rumgestöbert und dabei raus gefunden das So Fucking What schon einige
Zeit existieren und habe heraus gefunden das die Band schon seit 2002 fleißig
CDs, EPs, Singles und Samplerbeiträge liefert.
Aber was erwartet euch auf dem Album „Doge City Cowboys“?? Nun, um es einfach zu
machen Countrymusik mit recht rockigen Touch. Ich war selber sehr überrascht und
habe eigentlich spätestens nach der Hälfte des 2ten Song „Hellish Rock Machine“
erwartet das hier die E-Gitarre aufheult und es Punkig oder Rockig wird. Nix da,
guter und flotter Country-Rock gelangt an die Ohren und lädt zum
mitwippen/nicken ein. Die einzige Band welche mir hier als Vergleich einfallen
würde wären The Boss Hoss, die es ähnlich verstehen diesen Sound zu zelebrieren
und ihn nicht altbacken und öde klingen zu lassen.
Natürlich ist dieser Sound für unsere Radau-Verwöhnten Ohren etwas ungewöhnlich,
aber es macht Spaß Songs wie „Rock City Town“, „TV Slut“ oder „Overkill“(das ist
übrigens eine Coverversion des Motörhead-Klassikers, hört es euch an) zu zuhören
und man sitzt nicht wirklich still.
Schaut euch mal bei www.sofuckingwhat.net um, da werdet ihr euch den einen oder
anderen Song von diesem recht ungewöhnlichen Album anhören können. Denn man kann
es nicht bestreiten die Band So Fucking What rockt die Prärie."
